MacTerminal is a data communications application that links the Macintosh personal computer with information services, public data bases, mainframes, minicomputers, and other personal computers. It can be used for home banking, and to access information services such as CompuServe¬, the Source(SM), and Dow Jones News/Retrieval¬.
Features of MacTerminal include:
Ñ easy access to other computers via pull-down menus and dialog boxes;
Ñ ability to exchange documents, graphics, system files, and applications between the Macintosh and other computers using X Modem and MacBinary.
Ñ ability to integrate information received from remote computers into other Macintosh applications;
Ñ access to many sources of information with one software package, because it can emulate a variety of different terminals. With MacTerminal, a Macintosh can emulate the DEC¬ VT100 and VT52¬, and TTY terminals. With MacTerminal and additional hardware, a Macintosh can emulate an IBM(R) 3278-2 terminal.
